Common Sense Solution to Immigration

The Senate Immigration Bill will divide the nation's estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants into three groups according to how long an illegal alien has been in the U.S. and the following is why it won’t work:

1st Group - 5+ years - allowed to stay and apply for citizenship, provided they pay back taxes, learn English and have no serious criminal records.

How are the roughly 10 million illegal aliens that have been here 5 years going to pay back taxes? The average taxes for an illegal alien that has been here for 5 years is about $24,000.00.

2nd Group - 2-5 years - Have to return to another country and apply for a green card, which would allow their immediate return. The roughly 2 million immigrants who have been in the United States illegally for less than two years would be ordered home and be subject to deportation.

The logistics of rounding up 2 million illegal aliens who are already here would be impossible, especially with the current administration. This problem will be given to the next administration to handle.

3rd Group - Illegal aliens convicted of a felony or three misdemeanors would be deported no matter how long they have been in the United States.

Another logistical nightmare. These people are not registered anywhere so how will law enforcement find them and deport them?

Those who broke the law when coming into America, broke the law when getting a job, broke the law by failing to pay the same taxes as American workers and continue to break the law by residing here illegally. They are already guilty of at least 3 misdemeanors.

The most workable and simple solution to the illegal immigration problem in America is:

ENFORCE EXISTING IMMIGRATION LAWS, terminate the various "benefits” (education, medical care, food, housing, etc.), rescind the “anchor baby” law and most of them just might go home.
