Why are we in Afghanistan?

"To spread democracy, christianity and OUR way of life and because we are afraid of terrorists coming over here and attacking us." LOL.

Then,......................there's that one trillion dollars worth of natural resources they have that we've known about since 1985!

THAT'S why we sent 100s of millions of dollars to help the Mujahideen, and Al Qaeda (Osama) so the Russians wouldn't get Afghanistan's natural resources. Oops, that one didn't work out so well.

The Russians spent 10 years trying to impose their will, they got clobbered which it contributed heavily to the downfall of the USSR's empire.

So, let's keep killing those "terrorists" until WE get Afghanistan's resources to 'compensate' us for giving them democracy...... (but NOT like Iraq where every penny came out of OUR pockets.)

We can also install yet another military base in Afghanistan in addition to the several hundred other bases we have in virtually every country in the world.

U.S. Imperialism marches on and we still wonder why they hate us.

The other side of the coin:

China romances the Afghans, doesn't care about their politics and is now busily reaping the rewards. No Al Qaeda or Taliban attacks in China.

China and India have bid for contracts to develop Afghan mines, with the Chinese winning a huge copper contract. An iron-ore contract is due to be awarded later this year.

In 2008 China agreed to invest $3bn in developing the vast Aynak copper reserves, the largest single foreign direct investment in Afghanistan's history.
