Humans must have a leader - Someone to tell them what to do and how to act.
The ”leader” we choose, must exhibit and preach the ideas and thoughts we find personally most comforting.
We humans are a tribal species and chronically need to belong to a group (tribe) in order to reinforce our existence and justify our beliefs and actions.
Consequently, we have 10s of thousands of “tribes,” like churches, clubs, organizations, Facebook, the NRA, political lobbies, fraternities, and a host of other desperately needed social necessities.
Ultimately, reality and truth give way to fantasy and self-deception, leaving common sense and logic behind, as we blithely spiral into our ignorant, naive and inevitable destination, whatever we choose it to be.
Relevant quotes to ponder:
"The individual has always had to
struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will
be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for
the privilege of owning yourself."
- Friedrich Nietzsche
"A lie told often enough becomes the truth"
- Vladimir Lenin
"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have
sown will never be uprooted."
- Vladimir Lenin

"No man ever
believes that the Bible means what it says:
He is always convinced that it says
what he means."
-George Bernard Shaw
"Religion is the opium of the masses. "
- Karl Marx
